Kudos to These Companies Pouring Their Resources Into Fighting COVID-19

James Gilligan

In recent days, many companies have made a commitment to do all they can to support the fight against COVID-19. We appreciate and celebrate all their efforts, but we’d like to acknowledge here a handful of organizations we know especially well who have taken up the challenge represented by COVID-19: These four we are fortunate to have as clients:

ClearSign Diagnostics

ClearSign Diagnostics, based in West Palm Beach, FL, is working to distribute a Sars-Cov-2 Serological IgM IgG kit in accordance with the FDA’s “Policy for Diagnostic Tests for Coronavirus-2019 during the Public Health Emergency.” The ClearSign test is an in vitro immunoassay that measures an individual’s antibody response to the SARs-Cov-2 virus, the virus responsible for COVID-19 infections. It can provide an answer within 15 minutes. The test’s objective is to identify infected individuals, but also to identify those who have generated an immune response and so can resume normal living. ViralClear Pharmaceuticals

ViralClear, a subsidiary of BioSig Technologies, Inc., is based in Westport, CT. The company has licensed a novel, broad-spectrum anti-viral agent that has demonstrated high levels of activity against COVID-19: In lab testing, VicromaxTM decreased viral production of COVID-19 by more than 98 percent. Among the features making Vicromax an attractive potential therapy are these: It is an immunomodulator in addition to being an antiviral, it has already been tested in Phase I and Phase II trials and proven safe in humans, and it is given orally. ViralClear is partnering with the Mayo Clinic to test  VicromaxTM through FDA-approved clinical trials. Learn more about ViralClear here.

ArcheMedX

ArcheMedX, based in Charlottesville, VA, applies behavioral science to transform learning and generate actionable insights for life science and healthcare organizations. The ArcheMedX team has leveraged its expertise to create digital learning activities that are especially useful to teams fighting COVID-19. One provides education on the FDA’s recent guidance on the conduct of clinical trials during the COVID-19 pandemic. Another is designed to increase awareness and understanding of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security's "National Plan to Enable Comprehensive COVID-19 Case Finding and Contact Tracing in the U.S." Both learning activities are free and available via the ArcheMedX website. Check back often as ArcheMedX has more COVID-19-focused resources in development.

Castor

Castor, based in Amsterdam, is a health tech company that provides cloud-based data solutions that enable researchers to easily capture and integrate data from any source. Castor has joined the fight against COVID-19 by providing free access to its electronic data capture (EDC) system, launching a COVID-19 monitoring platform, and broadly supporting research continuity. As of April 30, Castor was supporting more than 175 COVID-19 studies across 14 countries. Also, recognizing that time is of the essence in solving this crisis, Castor has developed ready-for-use electronic case report forms (eCRFs) based on the WHO standard CRFs to help researchers start their studies or registries in less than an hour. Learn more about Castor and its efforts here.
